Hi, I want to smoke something by frying or roasting some cherry chips on top of my cast iron. The issue is, will that ruin my cast iron? I did it with my SS pan and the pan became burned and I had to use some oven cleaner to clean it. I was wondering if my cast iron would pick up bitter notes of burnt cherry chips that would be hard to clean off. I don't want to have to scrub off my patina I worked so hard to build to get the burnt taste of cherry chips off my pan.
