Adventures with a Gourmet Card

gembellina | Nov 3, 2011 05:31 AM

My boyfriend's parents got us a Gourmet Card for his birthday so we're being lured out into places we might not normally go by the promise of 2-for-1 deals etc. There seem to be very few places I've heard of - apart from Zizzi and other chains. Has anyone got one of these and been anywhere good in London?

Last night we tried Le Chardon in Clapham. 25% off food and wine. It trumpeted "home-made" on someof its dishes but I think unless specifically named thus, there was liberal use of bought-in stuff, as well as the microwave. Unforgivably over-cooked calves liver. A very nice bottle of Riesling though at only £22. The kind of place that if friends wanted to go, you wouldn't complain too loudly, but not somewhere I'd choose again.

So if you've been somewhere great with your Gourmet Card I'd love to hear it!
