Since we have started the dim sum tasting there has been a lot discussion of dim sum on the Bay Area board. I know that all the members of the teams have sharpen their taste bud and now look even harder at dim sum we have it.
I revisited ABC yesterday for a business lunch and I looked at ABC dim sum in a new light. In the past I would rate places in two groups, I be back or not. But now I have start to my system when I was out dating ( I have two sons in college). This a 10 point system 6 point possible for the food and 2 each for service and for the place itself.
My fellow diners were not big eater so we did not order a whole lot. I general I found the dim sum very good, but not as outstanding as it was last July. Still it is one best in the South Bay. I now fear that I will be so picky in my selection of dim sum nothing will be great again.
We had the following items:
Shark fin dumlings
Chives and shrimp pan fried dumplings
Deep fried shrimp balls
Deep fried crab dumplings
Scallops and shrimp dumplings
two order of their won tons
Steam bean sheet with meat filling
Braised duck with taro root
All the dishes were hot and freshly made. The two really outstanding dishes were the wontons and chives and srhimp pan fried dumplings. The wontons had large chunks of shrimps with very little ground pork. While the chive shrimp dumplings have just the right mix of chives and shrimp.
I will return, but now I finding myself judging the food as well as eating it. So in my opinion ABC in Milpitas is still one of the best in the South Bay. ABC has a sister teahouse in Foster City and both the North team and I have eaten there recently. Without any other comments it was not selected as one of the North sites.
