This past Saturday I went to a lovely little family get together at 98 Provence in Ogunquit. I don't know wine that well, but my stepfather always knows what to order. I started off with a smooth and sweet kir cocktail. I had the cream of parsnip with a dollop of chicken liver mousse - deliciously creamy and rich yet light. Entree of duck with a dark cherry sauce and endive charlotte and a few fiddleheads on the side. The duck was so dense and rich and to be like a tender steak and the endive also tender moulded with a savory cream sauce. Dessert of a frozen nougat was a little overwhelming in its sweetness, but the delicate crunchies in it were hard to resist. I traded some for bites of the goat cream cheesecake which was of a creamy custard texture. The bill came out to near $600 for 5 including tip and wine and cocktails. I was glad that I wasn't driving and rolled happily into bed to enjoy a deep and satisfied slumber. Yay Provence!
