Where to take 60 French Winemakers

sbp | Jan 21, 2005 08:49 AM

I'm arranging a Sunday Lunch for about 60 French winemakers (including a Burgundian folk singing troupe), the day after a major wine event. The past few years, we took them to Chinatown (Manhattan). I wanted to try something different this year.

Tried Katz's Deli, but I was basically told Sunday at 1pm is a busy time, so they don't need our money.

Any ideas? Budget is about $25/pp. I want to order everything in advance, family style.

Obvious 2nd choice is 2nd Avenue Deli, if they can accomodate a large party. Beyond that, I'm open. They can't do Thai or Sichuan or Indian -- too spicy. Maybe barbecue (I know, it's not the best in NYC), Salvadorean, Cuban? Soul Food (but not Sylvia's -- too touristy and food not very good anyway).
