Four of us tried this new storefront bistro in Ballston Spa last night, and enjoyed a good meal. Menu is skewed toward Southern and Southwestern cooking; corncakes; shrimp and grits, fried chicken, nice selection of salads. I made a meal of appetizers; seared ahi, Maytag blue + Granny smith salad, duck quesadilla. There was bbq shrimp at our table, the buttery New Orleans kind, there was fried chicken, which looked terrific, there was pasta with andouille, there was coconut shrimp served over grits. Extensive wine list (we drank a moderately-priced Malbec). The beer-and-wine bar seemed to be doing a good business. Comfortable room, friendly service, maybe a little shaky given that the place has only been open three days. The area lacks moderately-priced dining; this might fit the bill. The couple who own the place were associated with Eartha's, of blessed memory, in Saratoga Springs.
