We're planning a 50th Anniversary celebration for our parents, and are searching for the ideal venue.
The parameters are:
30 - 40 guests
Private room or private area of restaurant strongly preferred
The date will be Sunday, June 1st (coming up soon, I know, but we've all been extremely busy!)
We're looking at a luncheon or late afternoon start time
We're open to more adventurous cuisines, but a traditional, American/Steak/Seafood etc. type of menu will probably be best
There are a couple of guests (including my father) who keep kosher, but have no problem eating (kosher) seafood in restaurants
We want top-notch cuisine, service, atmosphere, etc. (without being overly stuffy); price is really not an obstacle
We'd like to make this a special event, needless to say, so we're hoping to go somewhere new and different (I know you don't know our usual haunts, but I'll reply to all posts)
Much of the family is Newton/Brookline/Boston based, so we'd prefer to keep things in the Greater Boston area
We've been in touch with a few places, such as The Four Seasons, The Taj, Locke-Ober's, etc. Some have availability (Locke-Ober's is closed Sundays, but will open if a certain price minimum is met), but we want to make sure we're not overlooking anything. Of course, all of these places have excellent reputations, but not having dined at or hosted an event there, commentary from wise Chowhounds with personal experiences will be a great help.
Since time is of the essence, your advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Chowhounds!
