My wife's going to an artists' gathering in Kansas City this week, and I'm hoping to join her for a couple of days. We'd be grateful for your current thoughts about a few places to eat. We're looking for the best food (especially with local and seasonal ingredients) that we won't find here in Philadelphia.
(Jane, with fond memories of our visit to BeaBea's Lawnside in the GEnie days, I'm hoping you'll write me at email@example.com.)
All else being equal, restaurants a cab ride from the meeting hotel (Marriott Country Club Plaza) would be easier. But I'll gladly rent a car if necessary to travel to good barbecue.
Thanks for all the comments that led to this tentative list:
breakfast (or lunch)
Cup and Saucer
Napoleon's French Bakery
lunch between meetings
Fiorella's Jack Stack (Holmes; lamb, cheesy corn)
Lil' Jake's Eat It & Beat It (12th and Grand; brisket)
Melbee's Bar & Restaurant
Many thanks for comments, additions, deletions . . . .
