I'm spending 4 days on a solo trip to Auckland in mid-August, staying in the CBD/wharfs area. Having now realized how chilly/rainy it will be, I may organize a few days around some yummy cafes/restaurants/bars. I'm mostly looking for budget-friendly eateries, with 1-2 "splurge" meals, and nice people-watching or city views!

I'm planning to rent a car for a day or two to go up to Woodhill Forest and Hunua Falls (as well as Waiheke Island), so I'd take suggestions for areas a bit farther out, if it's worth the trip! The trip spans Saturday-Tuesday, if that makes a difference.
