Made my second visit to 36 Bar and Barbecue Friday night and had another good experience. For my money this is the best Korean BBQ I've had in NYC. They are the only place I know of that uses real coals for their BBQ (until recently there Kang Suh did too but they have switched to gas burners). The real coals make a big difference.
I also consider their ban chan to be the best I've had in NYC. We were served nine different types and they were all excellent.
We also had the spicy tofu and seafood stew. This was not as good as I remembered. Next time I'll order something else.
My only real gripe is that their portions are not very big. In fact, the amount of meat that comes in one bbq order borders on unfair. But it is the best bbq and of course you get a lot with it so I will return again.
