Having learned to love Mexican food in the Mesilla Valley of New Mexico, my standards are quite demanding and perhaps arbitrary. But standards they are!
That said, this place was not a dissapointment (only 3 restraurants have earned this distinction E of the big muddy.)
They serve (and I had) green chile enchiladas! No tomatillos were "harmed" in the making of the dish. You can't really harm a tomatillo, which to my knowledge is not a food ingredient. One beef, one chicken with pintos substituted for black beans. Beans were undistinguished, as was the chicken. The beef was very good, nice and spicy.
The hot sauce was clearly made there that day. Tasty, if not hot enough.
I wanted to go back the next day to try tacos, but DW insisted on reminiscing at The Nines in Collegetown.
If you can't get to Deming, Las Cruces, TorC, Hatch, Albuquerque, etc. go here.
