My husband and I will be in Charleston for 3 nights/ 4 days and I am struggling with selecting places for lunch/dinner. Our goal is to dine at lowcountry (read local to the area) restaurants with seafood emphasis. We are trying to stay within a budget so I have selected Bertha's Kitchen, Martha Lou's, Chick's Fry House, and Dave's Carryout. For brunch one morning I am planning Hominy Grill.
I am hoping to get a table one night at R. Kitchen. However I am having a hard time selecting one or two other dinners to splurge on. What is your top pick from one of these that has an emphasis on local cooking?
1. Roadside Seafood
2. Poogan's Porch
5. The Ordinary
6. Edmund's Oast
7. Page's Okra Grill
That's quiet a few but I cannot narrow it down and am hopeful one of the locals will help me. If they all are really good, what's one that's good for budget conscious?
The other option is to stick to all the places in the former list, based on your opinion should I stick to my budget friendly restaurants for all the meals?
We live in Atlanta so fancy/schmancy places with a hipster/cool/trendy vibe is not a requirement because Atlanta has plenty of those; it's memorable food we are after.
