3 ? - Austin, Bush Airport, and Andre's

Hi, I'm a Boston chowhound coming into Texas for a few days next week. While much of the trip is being structured by a business trip, I will be mixing in a little personal time and need some chow help on two fronts.

First, I'll be taking my 90 year old mother out to dinner in Austin. Is there someplace near the Arboretum that would work for us? She doesn't eat much and doesn't like anything even faintly spicy. I, on the other hand, will need a good meal and a very substantial drink. We'll need a place that will cater to both tastes. My investigation so far just yields one chain restaurant after another. I would like to stay away from chains if at all possible.

Then, on Sunday afternoon, I will be traveling from the hill country area to Bush airport with time for a noon lunch near the airport. Is there anything not to be missed near the airport? My Texas-born husband will be with me here and we'd like one last fix of Texas food that you can't get up here in New England (i.e., Tex-Mex, barbeque, chicken fried steaks, etc.)

My final question regards Andre's in Houston. Do they still make their wonderful salad dressing? (We lived in Houston over 20 years ago and remember the place fondly.) I've found some posts on a Houston chatboard where it sounds like the establishment has gone seriously downhill.

Thanks in advance. Looking forward to being back in Texas. Are the bluebonnets in bloom now?
