2 nights/3 days with a tween and a teen

fluffyfoodie | Apr 17, 201507:09 PM     10

I'm planning on taking my kids to Washington, DC for a 3 day/2 night whirlwind trip. We'll be packing food for the most part as we need to stick to a very tight budget, but I would like for us to eat at 1 fun place a day while we're there. What are your recs for eats with a teen and a tween (with a nut allergy)?

Planning on sticking to the usual touristy areas - the zoo, probably the Museum of Natural History, the Mall...so any restaurant recs in or close by are much appreciated. And even though this may be a bit off topic, the best areas for budget (and safe) lodging would be helpful - don't mind taking the metro in.
