Help W/Casual Dining In South Central Wisconsin?

racegeek | Jun 4, 200807:23 AM

I will be travelling by car from Central Ohio to Southern Wisconsin later this week, and am in need of some guidance for casual dining options in South Central Wisconsin.

On Saturday, we will be part of an architectrual driving tour that will take us to the following towns:

Johnson Creek
Beaver Dam

We will be in Johnson Creek, Columbus and Beaver Dam in the morning, and might like to stop for breakfast in one oo the three. At the very least we will want to stop for a good cup of non-Starbucks coffee and a snack (maybe some famous Wisconsin kringel?), say at a cafe or bakery.

From about noon until 3:00PM, we will visit Oconomowoc, Dousman and Jefferson, in that order. We will need to stop for lunch in one of these three areas, and are looking for a place for a casual lunch and a beer, something that hopefully has decent food and some local flavor and personality to it. I've read good things about the Main Street Depot in Oconomowoc, but have not come across much in either Dousman or Jefferson.

We will be staying in the Oconomowac area on Friday and Saturday nights. I was hoping to find a good, traditional Wisconsin fish fry for Friday night, and some local scenery would be great too. From the bit of research that I have done, I read that Spinnaker's was pretty good, so any comments on that would be great, and I'm very open to other options as well.

On Saturday evening, we are most likely headed to Madison to meet some friends who live in Lancaster for dinner. Any suggestions on not-to-be-missed upscale casual dining options in Madison would be greatly appreciated.

Well, I know I've covered a lot of ground and asked for lots of help. I'll be looking forward to any replies, and will be greatly appreciative of any input. Thanks in advance for your help.
