help w/ brunch suggestions?

fat kitty | Apr 14, 2004 07:51 PM

hi, all. i hv family in town this w/end and want to offer up to them some suggestions for a casual brunch on sunday. it has to be somewhere that will not require us to make reservations, since we will prob not know what we will do until the last minute... my goal is to offer some more "chowish" suggestions, purely out of self-interest, of course! also, since some are coming from out of town, i thought it would be fun to share some "l.a." type of experience that they cannot get at home. that said, they are very picky eaters, who are not very adventurous and a little intimidated by things that are unfamiliar. also, there are a couple of small kids involved and the kids take after the parents.

that said, i hv come up w/ the following ideas:

*** wat thai temple (huge hit w/ different family members, but they are more into that kind of thing).
*** dim sum in monterey park (at least there's enough "non-weird" food to fill up on)
*** farmer's mkts (either the weekly at hollywood, for pupusas, whatever OR the permanent one at fairfax / 3rd, which at least offers something for everyone).

none of those things are particulary convenient to where we are located (considering we'll be in 3 or so cars, etc.).... something downtown / pasadena area would be the easiest (so i guess i shld include the grand central market in my list). for what it's worth, i think there will be about a dozen of us, so something like the pantry would be difficult on a sunday w/ a crowd that size.

anything i hvn't thought of yet? all suggestions most welcome! thx!!
