Lately we’ve seen a rash of excellent reports from visitors to the Bay Area whose experiences extend beyond the well-trod “Where should I eat in Union Square?” path.
baloney adored a visit to Atelier Crenn (which included $15 valet parking, to which I add another “?!” to baloney’s “??!!”).
On the chef’s tasting menu, top marks go to the “crazy fun and delicious” seared Kusshi oysters with smoked sturgeon pearls and the foie gras “log” with pickled morels and kumquats. (You can learn more about the restaurant’s chef, Dominique Crenn, in her CHOW Report video.)
baloney’s lovely and exhaustive report hearkens back to grayelf‘s spring 2011 trip review, which praised chef Dennis Leary for both dinner at Canteen and drinks at the remodeled House of Shields saloon. Her May dinner highlights included a mild, tender lamb loin and the deservedly famous vanilla soufflé.
