ellenost wanted to get the most from James Beard Award–winning Eleven Madison Park’s spring menu, and inquired on the boards. Conveniently, kelea was stopping by that very night, and reported back the next morning with accounts of crab (“a fresh, bright and flavorful peekytoe salad BEAUTIFULLY plated”), lamb “served 3 ways (a loin, confit and braised in a ravioli),” and a sort of strawberry-basil vacherin.

After dining at EMP a few days later, ellenost also reported back, calling her meal “brilliant.” She loved the lamb that had been recommended as well as the EMP egg cream, which is spiked with vanilla malt syrup rather than the traditional Fox’s U-bet syrup, and left her happily nostalgic for the egg creams of her youth. And although ellenost had been suspicious of the strawberry-basil combo, in the end her mind was changed by a photo posted by RGR—and having sampled it she now calls it her new favorite dessert.
