“This has got to be one of the all time great high end junk food dishes,” says sku of poutine, the classic Canadian take on french fries, with brown sauce and cheese curds. sku had a version at Animal that was “exquisite.” The french fries were perfectly fried, with a rich oxtail jus on top. sku says, “[I]t was all we could do not to lick the jus off the plate when we were done. This was one of those dishes that you think about long after your dinner and yearn to taste again.”

There is just no comparison between the other LA versions of poutine and Animal’s, says mollyomormon. Also, try the “insanely delicious pork belly with kim chee slaw,” says molly. Or the equally delicious sweetbreads. Or the fried quail: “The coating on the bird is so delicious I was trying to figure out a way to politely gnaw as much as possible off the bones.”
