Last week, we were talking about the Bento Challenge on LiveJournal that inspired many delightful bento boxes. Japanese blogger Jacket Lunch Box wasn’t in on the challenge, but this bento enthusiast shares the passion to turn box lunches into an art form—with a rock ’n’ roll twist. All of JLB’s bentos imitate album art.
For those of us who can’t read the Japanese text on the blog, Boing Boing’s Lisa Katayama explains the ingredients that are used as art supplies. Public Enemy’s Muse Sick-N-Hour Mess Age is apparently “made of seaweed, fish cakes, sour plum, and rice.” And Weezer’s decidedly cuter Green Album is “made with cabbage, seaweed, ham, fish cakes, paprika, and rice.” One commenter on the Boing Boing post points to another blogger’s rather terrifying bento version of King Crimson’s 1969 release In the Court of the Crimson King. (Scroll down for what appears to be the scariest use of bean curd in bento history!)
