Perhaps Dr.Faustus over in Red Hook has just gotten his paws on Diana Kennedy’s new tome, Oaxaca al Gusto, for he is on a huitlacoche hunt. The dark, bulbous fungus grows on corn and is considered a delicacy south of the border. In New York it is somewhat less appreciated, and according to 2slices, it is mostly available canned, especially in the Mexican shops of Sunset Park. If you’ve seen it around town, please pop on over to this thread and give the good doctor a hand.

Discuss: Is there any huitlacoche?
