In Buceo 95, Upper West Siders have a friendly new haunt with a Spanish-accented menu and wines from around Europe. LNG212, who has sampled many of the tapas and other plates, is floored by the beet ravioli, a ravishingly colorful deconstruction that features layers of raw beet sandwiching a pistachio-cashew filling—“fantastic,” she declares, though the serving could be larger.
Also delicious, and more generously portioned, are crab cakes with mango salsa, LNG writes. In addition, hounds recommend cheeses, Serrano ham, house-cured olives, and swoon-inducing warm chocolate empanadas. Wines, sold by the quartino or the bottle, are fairly priced, LNG adds.
Beyond the food and wine, hounds appreciate the relaxed, hospitable vibe. The friendly owners work the room and make diners feel at home, says kelea, who recounts “an absolutely delightful time.”
