From the Things Are Tough All Over Department: Grub Street, the New York magazine food blog, is reporting that the best cheap NYC meal since Tony Manero stacked two slices together—Vietnamese sandwiches—is undergoing a price increase.

We’ve been hearing a lot about the pain of higher grocery prices and their impact on families, but for heaven’s sake: The Grub Street post says one banh mi place is charging up to $5.50 for some of its sandwiches. $5.50! It’s enough to make you take to the kitchen to make your own banh mi.
