Fat chance, says olasek. The flavor and texture of wine are changed so dramatically by the removal of alcohol that no alcohol-free wine would even remotely resemble the real thing. Nonalcoholic cocktails are much less depressing.
Three methods are used to remove alcohol from wine: vacuum, reverse osmosis, and spinning cone. None of them yield a really satisfying product. Ariel (which uses reverse osmosis) and Sutter Home’s Fre (which uses the spinning cone technology) are probably the best of a bad lot, says zin1953. But if you don’t expect a lot, you’ll be less disappointed.
