I’ve never been a cupcake fan. To me, it seems so noncommittal to order a little nub of cake when you can go for the whole slice. And most of the cupcakes that are being touted these days are overly sweet and artificial tasting. Add on the fact that cupcakes have taken Los Angeles by storm, and I become doubly wary. But after a sampling, I have to admit that at least one cupcake at Sprinkles is worth waiting in line for. I’m not convinced by the more pedestrian flavors like chocolate and vanilla, but the bakery’s take on strawberry has given me a newfound respect for the little guys. And until October 14, Sprinkles will be donating the proceeds from every strawberry cupcake sold to the Entertainment Industry Foundation’s Women’s Cancer Research Fund.
