Washington Post staffer Justin Rude, feeling nutty after an interview with bizarre-food-meister Andrew Zimmern, gives the wacky-food thing a shot in his own backyard.

You’re not going to beat Zimmern at his own game, but Rude gives it the old college try, sucking down calf’s brain, jellyfish salad, pigs’ feet, durian, and a grasshopper taco.

Rude’s descriptions are entertaining enough, but the really engaging aspect of the story is Zimmern’s incredibly cogent perspective on why one culture’s roast bat is equivalent to another culture’s fried chicken. Score another one for the Travel Channel.
