If the prospect of sweater weather and squeezing into long underwear already has you terrified, you may want to steer clear of any Dunkin’ Donuts. The national coffee chain has rolled out its fall menu without giving the slightest of effs about the 90 degree weather and your upcoming beach vacation. Sure, we can enjoy a pumpkin spice-anything like the rest of them, but this announcement is entirely too premature and entirely too corporate America. Chill, Dunkin’. Chill. Or better yet, don’t chill and continue to bask in this amazing sunlight that is guaranteed to not last for long.
With all of that said, we can’t deny that their new line of maple-heavy offerings sounds utterly delicious. In fact, if there’s any seasonal flavor that can give pumpkin spice a run for its money, it’s maple.
Here’s a rundown of everything that’s new:
Maple Pecan Coffees and Lattes: We’re not sure anything will take the place of a pumpkin spice latte, but DD has their sights set on maple pecan in the form of lattes, coffee, cold brew, and frozen drinks. We’re not so sure people will enjoy the latter, seeing as maple is most commonly associated with syrup (and served hot), but if unicorn can become an overnight trend, then hey, why not?
Maple Sugar Bacon Breakfast Sandwich: Calling it right now. This will absolutely be our new favorite hangover food during those chilly Sunday mornings. Featuring a double portion of sweet caramelized Maple Sugar Cherrywood smoked bacon served on a croissant with egg and cheese, this is exactly what the doctor (and your stomach) ordered to make all the pain go away.
Festive Fall Donut: The red icing with orange and chocolate sprinkles may be pretty and “festive,” but at the end of the day, this is just a standard cake doughnut topped with basic icing. Give us a dessert that’s stuffed with something unique and then you’ll have our attention.
Pumpkin Cream Cheese Spread: Out of everything on the list, this sounds this most dangerously addictive. Seriously, we’ve spent the last ten minutes thinking about everything we want to spread it on: bread, bagels, muffins, our body. The possibilities are endless.
