The Brite Spot diner has been an Echo Park fixture for decades. It was looking a little worn until last October, when owner Dana Hollister hit the refresh button. With a redesigned interior, the new outdoor patio, and a menu revamp by new chef Darby Aldaco (formerly of Animal), the Brite Spot shines once more.

Chowhound JeMange recently stopped in right before closing and found pleasant service and fresh food: a patty melt on great rye, the beef cooked perfectly medium-rare, the sautéed onions properly rich, and the fries hot and well seasoned. And there’s a ton of vegetarian and vegan options on the menu.
