Food and drink that has us seeing gold
The San Francisco Bay Area has SO much amazing food that sometimes it can be hard to navigate, especially when you're looking for a specific dish. One restaurant may have fantastic reviews, but the dish you're looking for might happen to be one of their weak points. After many a foodie adventure around the Bay, we've compiled a list of a few of our favorite dishes that you most definitely need in your life! Let's get started!
This stuff is straight up fire! Aria is a Korean fried chicken joint in San Francisco that instantly became one of our go-to spots after we tried all their unique takes on Korean street food. They use only dark meat (so you know it's flavorful) and slather the chicken in their sweet and spicy sauce that's seriously to die for. Aria closes up shop when they run out of chicken each day so make sure you don't wait too long if you're planning to try it out sometime!
Flights is a restaurant with an awesome concept - you've probably heard of a flight of wine, right? It's where you get to sample several wines at once. Well, Flights took that concept to food in their super unique restaurant with locations in Campbell, Los Gatos, and Burlingame. One of our favorite flights we tried was their Mac n Cheese flight. Just look at those! From left to right, you're currently salivating over the original recipe, truffle mac, and bacon & jalapeno. They're all creamy, rich, cheesy, and everything you've ever wanted in a mac & cheese.
If you're looking for the perfect date spot with incredible food, look no further than the 9-straight Michelin Star awarded Luce located in the Intercontinental Hotel in San Francisco. And if you're a fan of sashimi and sushi, the Pacific Amberjack is a definite must-try! First off, just check out that presentation... it's seriously an edible work of art. Consisting of trout roe, avocado, and forbidden rice and lightly marinated in Yuzu & olive oil, it's light, flavorful, and has a perfect combination of textures.
SPRO Coffee Lab is a bit of a hidden gem in SF. It's a food truck at Spark Social in China Basin whose foundation is coffee and all kinds of unique coffee-based drinks, but they also offer some out-of-this-world brunch items. One of our absolute favorites was the Umami Bomb! There are a ridiculous number of avocado toasts in the Bay, but this one truly stands out. It's made up of avocado, black truffle citrus ponzu, furikake, black sesame, togarashi chili & ikura salmon roe on sourdough rye. You have to try it to believe it.
