Ah the shandy, Britain’s low-alcohol pub drink, the ultimate session sipper. This one calls for ginger beer, mixed half-and-half with a mild-tasting lager (no bitter hop bombs, please). Enjoy one for lunch when you have to go back to the office and keep a clear head, or whenever you want a little something that cools and stimulates without making you foggy.
What to buy: Pick up a good English-style lager, such as Samuel Smith’s Pure Brewed Organic Lager, and a ginger beer with bite, like Reed’s Extra Ginger Brew.

- 1 bottle chilled lager
- 1 bottle chilled ginger beer
1Fill a chilled pint glass three-quarters full with lager (if you want the ginger flavor to be more pronounced, fill only halfway). Top off with the ginger beer.
