Zyliss Can Opener

CindyJ | Mar 20, 200712:03 PM     12

I'll admit it -- a manual can opener is nothing to get too excited about -- but I LOOOOOOVE my new Zyliss Safe-Edge can opener!!! Maybe it doesn't take a whole lot to get me raving about a new kitchen gadget, but this one, in my book, is like the proverbial "better mouse trap." It looks like your run-of-the-mill opener, but it behaves very differently in three ways: (1) it removes the entire top of the can, so there are no rough edges, (2) the food in the can never touches the opener so it stays clean -- no gummed-up gears, (3) it removes the lid of the can so your fingers never touch the lid (it goes from the can to the opener right into the trash). Oh, and I paid less than $12 for it.

It did take me about 2 minutes to figure out how to use it, even with the instructions, but once learned, that was it. And it was a hoot watching my engineer-husband trying to figure out how to use it (no, I didn't give him the instructions). Just thought I'd share my find of the day with my fellow CHers.
