Zuni Chicken--To Go

I've been meaning to post a trip report about our anniversary trip to San Francisco and Sonoma during the first week of this month, but I just haven't had the chance to sit and type it all out. But I did want to share this story because I think it falls under "Only a Chowhound would..."

I had made dinner reservations for every night of our trip except for the last (Saturday, 10/8). However, I did not realize that it was Fleet Week, so all of the good places would probably not be able to take us. I had already called Zuni on Friday night and they told me they only had 10:00 open.

The next day I was at the concierge's desk at our hotel making return trip arrangements and I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask if he had any pull at Zuni. One phone call later and we had a 6:15 table (yippee!!).

The meal itself was everything I expected based on all of the posts I read here. For apps, my wife had the polenta and I had the caesar salad. We split the roasted chicken and the flourless chocolate cake for dessert.

As for the chicken, it was dleicious but we couldn't finish it all. We were left with 2 legs and 2 wings. Then the lightbulb went off!!! Since we were flying home the next day, this would make a great in-flight meal. I asked the server if he could make two separate packages of 1 leg and 1 wing each. Done. Then, when we got back to our room, I cleared out the minibar fridge and kept them in there overnight (I knew minibars were good for something!).

The next day we were able to enjoy day-old Zuni roast chicken on our flight while everyone else was paying $5.00 for Pringle's. Who do you think had the better meal??
