Six of us went to Zipe Zape for a light meal and drinks early New Years eve., and it was a bad experience. Two of our party were chowhounds visiting from out of town and the other two were non-adventurous snackers from the city. We called ahead and the place was not that busy.
The waiter could not speak english. She did tell us that her english was not good when seating us, but it was actually pretty non-existent and she didnt seem to have much waiting experience. She had an extremely difficult time with our meal and drink order. She brought out two plain seltzer waters before finally understanding that we wanted a Vodka with Seltzer and then brought out a seperate vodka and glass of seltzer. I was very upset with the management, more so than the waiter. The management should not have someone working the floor that cant even understand a basic meal order.
The waitress had to return to our table after our order and tell us that the kitchen was out of squid, octopus and mushrooms. The menu is not that varied, so to be out of 3 ingredients and eliminating 1 of the 3 non-meat items is not good.
The food was not that good and the service was bad.
We were expecting to do a few rounds of tapas and drinks but instead, ended after just one and left.
