I've been lurking on this board for awhile and decided to post a pictorial link to an experience I had about a month ago in Ann Arbor, MI. I ended up going to Zingerman's twice for lunch. The second time I spent $250 in the Deli and then another $100 via mail order the next week.
Both meals were Pastrami sandwiches and were excellent. The Matzo Ball soup was very good. Zingerman's is well worth the trip. Since I live in South Bend, IN its about a 2.5 hour drive.
The service was outstanding. I was able to taste many cheeses, condiments, and sausages, before purchsing. For this type of service I would suggest missing the 11:45-1:15 lunch crowd.
This is the kind of place where I was sitting at the back table with my digital camera and taking pictures of my meal. A woman at the next table came over and made the comment "I understand" as I was taking pictures. We had a nice conversation and she told Ann Arbor has many great little restaraunts.
