Anyone eaten at Zafferano recently? I revisited there for supper a couple of nights ago, and enjoyed:

A lavish array of breads with excellent olive oil;
Venison bresaola with celeriac - the vegetable was done in a sort of remoulade which married beautifully with the gamey flavour and delicate texture of the meat;
Skate salad - came with a sweet and sour dressing and was another sensation texture-wise;
Tagliatelle with white truffles - this was my first experience of white truffle so I've nothing to compare it with, but the fungus had an incredible room-filling aroma, and a slightly surprising, evanescent flavour, a bit like saffron and brie (?). Couldn't fault the pasta;
Tagliatelle with chestnuts and wild mushrooms - if anything I preferred this to the truffled version;
Grilled chicken - was done as a paillard. The comforting taste of good chicken was pointed up nicely by a seasoning of parsley and lemon and by the slight charring of the meat;
Roast rabbit - the leg and slices of saddle wrapped in pancetta. This was an intensely flavoured, tender bit of meat pleasingly scented with rosemary;
Tiramisu - was more strongly coffee flavoured than I remembered from the last time;
Orange and pine nut tart - densely textured with a refreshing twist of bitterness.

Plus various other bits and bobs, freebies, a couple of excellent wines and relaxed, attentive service it added up to one of more satisfying meals I've had in a good while.
