On saturday night I returned to lao sze chuan. same great food, same lousy service. instead of delaying a table to us, they sat us no problem but then rushed us as quickly as possible.
so, anyway, on a post dinner trek to buy dried fruit, i noticed a place called spring world (towards the eastern end of the mall). the window photo's showed many of the same dishes as lao sze chuan, and i'm thinking same food better service, maybe?
well, i grabbed a menu to take home for study. featured prominently on the menu: Yunnan specials. I have never seen yunnan food served in chicago, and about the only thing i know about yunnan food is its ham, which i believe is probabaly not allowed in the usa. anyone have any experience with yunnan style food/spring world. they do have a dish named after yunnan's most favorite despot, "chairman mao's pork"
let me know!
