Last night we had a great sushi experience at the new Yume Sushi on Park St in Alameda, upstairs where Sushi Sue used to be. In my opinion, it is better than Sushi Sue was, despite Sushi Sue's almost cult following. The place has been redecorated, and there are now two tables for 4 people in addition to the 8 spaces at the bar, and there is waitress service. They have cooked appetizers as well as sushi. We had an appetizer of the juiciest broiled mackerel I have ever tasted. The sushi was the freshest and the pieces were large, and included some more unusual specials like conch, aji, and broiled scallop. The prices are reasonable too. The place was not very crowded, which was good for us, but a shame because with top notch sushi places few and far between, Yume deserves to survive.
