Yujin on 12 St: mediocre food, mediocre service, bad vibe

I decided to try Yujin on 12 St. betw 5th and University the other night. Not good.

They were all out of one of the bass entrees, so i opted for tempura (which the waitress said was "really light and great" -- it was mediocre, soggy stuff of the same variety you'd get at any of the joints on St.Marks. This mushy entree also cost 22 dollars: with nothing else included (rice, soup, etc. are all a la carte).

The waitress didn't even bother to ask if i might want rice or anything else w/ it (i didn't, but its poor service not to check). Nor did she inquire if i liked the food, nor if i wanted a second glass of wine.

The place, which was about half full on a weekend night, has the air of a failing restaurant. And at those prices, it's hard to imagine why anyone would choose Yujin when there are so many great Japanese options in NY. As a sidenote, there was not a single Asian customer in the entire restaurant.
