New Yorker visiting Toronto

MNS in Chelsea | May 20, 2005 07:24 PM

I'm trying desperately to figure out Toronto from books and websites; it's our 1st time visiting next week. I get most of my NYC ideas from Chowhound; but I really don't know where to start with the Toronto board... so I'll mention at least that we'll be staying downtown (probably on E. Richmond St, Cambridge Suites) and also visiting the Comic Arts Festival at Markham St.("behind Honest Ed's" [?] ) But we will have a car and are willing to travel, depending on traffic, or of course take public transport.

SO... could really use some good sushi and other Asian rec's, inc. Indian. Great fresh seafood would be super, too. Don't need Italian or pizza, or steakhouses, unless you really think they're mind-blowing. Good sandwich or other lunch takeout would be helpful. Or at least areas to start in, where I should be looking for good food, or the kinds of food that are best in Toronto (I'm telling you, I'm clueless.) Or at least tell me where to look on this board!

We are two adults and a 5-year-old, but we never go to "family" restaurants (OK, it might've happened once or twice). Our daughter eats everything and is perfectly civil even in "white-glove" restaurants. But we also go to really dumpy places if the food is great.

Thank you so much!
