I feel a little lame writing on behalf of my adult bro, but well, I consider this my duty as an older sister and hound. Did a board search but didn't come up w/ much besides some fact that Yokohama has the largest Chinatown in the world. Is this true?
My bro will be traveling tomorrow from Berkeley, CA to Yokohama for just over a week on business. He and a few grad school colleagues are in the first intensive phase of forming a start-up co. so his days will be packed w/ meetings. He's staying at the Sheraton in Yokohama and will likely have several evenings and nights free. He would be willing to travel outside of that area if it was easily accessible by public transportation and worth the effort.
While he's never perused Chowhound, he's almost as much of a hound as me and is particularly open when it comes to Asian food. He enjoys sushi, but loves cooked meats and interesting and authentic regional dishes. I'm sure he'll have a food allowance, but good cheap eats to moderately-priced fare would be great.
He's 30 and will be traveling w/ another young guy. He's of the work hard/eat and drink hard mentality, so any place where he can unwind w/ some good libations and local eats would be perfect. My big sister instinct to make sure he is fed well thousands of miles away has me turning to you Japan experts, so please help me gift my bro w/ some good recs for his dining downtime. Thanks!
