I am hoping to have a romantic New Year's for two at home w/ oysters. We're both oyster novices really...like em, but don't know the tricks of the trade.

What kind to get?
What to do w/ them? (does anything need to happen before shucking)
what to serve with them? (I read that great thread below about which wines go w/ oysters)
where to buy them? (live in Astoria, will travel)
Anything else you can think of.
