Hi! I live in Seattle and am planning a New Year's trip to Vancouver. It will likely just be my boyfriend and I. We are mid-30s, looking for a restaurant with good fresh food, lively, but not doing a "New Year's Eve special menu" for $150pp, which will be worse than their food on a normal night (at least, that's how it works here in Seattle).
I've been to Vancouver a few times but never for NYE. If it's not worth the trip for NYE then feel free to tell me. :) I've always had great meals there (can't remember all of the names, unfortunately) and it seems like a great place to ring in the new year. My ideal night would be cocktails somewhere fun, walk to different spot for dinner, then maybe see fireworks from our hotel room (?) or end up at another fun bar to ring in the new year.
We'll be driving from Seattle and staying somewhere downtown (recs welcome as well), but I don't want to be driving on NYE. Budget for dinner is $100 pp (though less expensive is fine, of course!).
