New Year's Eve @ Cafe Cerise, San Diego

Excellent food, horrible service. 45 minutes before the first course was served, 45 minutes between first and second and almost an hour between second and the main course. Since we were in the second seating at 9:30, the champagne toast was served right after our main course. The fourth and fifth courses came out in reverse; desert then a palate cleansing sorbet. We only saw our server once between each course and had to beg to be bussed. The manager reluctantly deducted $40 off our $85/plate + wine bill, only to automatically include an 18% gratuity for our whopping party of two. I do have to confess that the food was great (pumpkin ricotta crepes, venison pate, cassoulet, artisan cheese plate) but I was too pissed (mad, not drunk) to truly enjoy. Some of us are quite capable of and enjoy making a great meal at home. It’s the service we pay for you dopes!
