We had a good meal there Sat night--probably the best steak I've had in my life with the exception of certain backyard dad-grilled steaks in Omaha in the 60s. Absolutely 0 ambiance but a lot of attention to the food and great friendly, helpful, enthusiastic but not overly smarmy service. Perfect NY strip with a little blue cheese and mushroom cognac cream (house special), plus really nice creamed spinach and mashed potatoes at no extra charge. The BF had his strip steak with just sauteed garlic and it was really good too. Reasonable wine mark up--I didn't ask about corkage. Took half my steak home for favorite cold steak on hot toast with Hellman's snack. Really good if you don't care about a lot of scenery and just want a perfect steak at a reasonable price. Owner came over to chat and remembered us from an unsuccessful attempt to dine during a power outage earlier in the year. Knows about chowhounds too!
