X'otik Kitchen - Culver City

Sonia | Sep 3, 200401:37 AM

Despite its unfortunate name, I had a great lunch experience at this relatively new catering/take-out lunch spot. They also have a few counter seats and a few inviting tables outside but looked to me like the bulk of their biz is take-out.

After perusing the menu I decided on the X'otik chicken sandwich. I normally avoid chicken sandwiches because they are so often dry & chewy but this one said it was made from roasted, not grilled, chicken.

The sandwich was made with pieces of roasted chicken mixed with a lightly mustardy dressing, lots of grilled veggies, what looked like heirloom tomatoes, lettuce & pesto. It was moist & delicious. Fresh ingredients, clean tasting, bursting with flavor. The best chicken sandwich I've had, in fact. Although, as I said before, I don't normally order the chicken sandwich. Anyway, I had a very good experience and am looking forward to going back for their other dishes... different roasted chicken dishes, salads & fish. There were quite a few references to "Indonesian" this or that, but nothing about the sandwich indicated Indonesian so I'll have to get the skinny on that.

It was very pleasant outside at lunch time at this off-the-main-trendy-drag-of-Culver City location and it would have been the perfect lunch experience but for the obnoxious yammer yammer yammering coming from the apartment building next door.... ah well.
