Stopped for lunch at XO Taste and learned they just initiated a new lunch Thai menu, as new owners (managers?) are Thai. I ordered Pad See Ew off the new Thai lunch menu. They have eliminated the Chinese lunch special menu. (NOT HAPPY). Now they also charge for tea, but it is included with the lunch special, along with two light egg rolls and a soup.. (I got a very tasty Tom Kha Gai ).
My noodles were well executed with good flavor, but the portion was rather skimpy. The Chinese broccoli was tasty in the noodles. The manager told me regular portions can be ordered and they're larger than the lunch portion. (But check out the PHOTOS on their menu, which show bounteous food out to near the plates' edges).
Mr. alkapal got his regular old Singapore Noodle, but said he was happier with the version last week at Hong Kong Pearl Seafood (which he ordered with the wide rice noodle).
I think I'll stick to my shrimp dumpling soup here at XO, and get my Thai where its a better value. Maybe I'll order a regular portion and see what it is like. I'm not jumping over the moon at this new development, but I'll give it another chance. Losing the lunch menu of Chinese food is NOT A GOOD THING.
PS. I hate plastic chopsticks.
