wretchedness at amin on dekalb

It's not that I expected Amin, the new Indian on DeKalb in Brooklyn, to be GOOD. But then someone said they got good food here, so I figured maybe the bad rap the chain gets is a little over-played, and it might not be a bad weeknight takeout option.

Good god. It was singularly the worst Indian food I have ever had. The chicken makhani appears to be made with a blend of ketchup and corn sweetener--truly completely different from even insipid, greasy, or creamy versions of this dish. The aloo gobi matar was edible, but not very good at all--the spices just did not work. And worst of all, I was justifying takeout when I've already blown my budget at the holidays by planning this to last 2 days. How I dread to face tomorrow.
