Treated myself today to an order of cumin lamb at Zoes. Talk about spicy! The lamb is cooked in a spicy cumin sauce and garnished with hot chiles, more cumin and maybe szechuan pepper, or maybe not since I didn't get a big ma la sensation. For $12 it's a small portion but not a lot of veggie filler ... I could only detect some shallots and green onions in the sauce. Garnished with a handful of fresh cilantro, this is a great dish. The lamb isn't very tender but I don't think it's supposed to be. Strikes me as an earthy home-style dish. Also tried the scallion pancakes to see how they compare to the ones at Shangri-la in Belmont and the ones at King Fung Garden since I just had them. They are good at Zoes but I still give King Fung's the edge. Might have to go back to Belmont to do more research.
This place is really great to have in the hood. Wangs is closer but sometimes I just want what Zoe's has got.

Next door to Petsi's pies, which was doing a LOT of pie business today. I guess people are ordering for next week. Yay, pies :-)
