Hello, I'm starting my culinary education the old grizzled age of 31. After wasting a decade of my life battling depression, unemployment, my mental disabilities (autism and SEVERE ADHD). I am now getting on what I think is the right track for me. I know all about the long hours, stress, and pitfalls of the industry because I have been warned off it most of my life. I am good at passionate/about few things. Cooking is one those things. I don't plan on marrying, or having children. I just something to get me a respectable wage and a career where I can hopefully advance.
So is it culinary career worth it for me? Or should I go back to scraping by on SSI, mooching off my relatives, and attempting to fill my long, boring days with internet and naps?
