The Best and Worst of Taste of Atlanta

I'm surprised not to find a post about this already, but for those who attended the 10th Annual Taste of Atlanta last weekend, what were the highs and lows?

I would say that for me one high was the Shrimp and Grits from Atkins Park which completely surprised me -- I didn't realize that they served anything other than standard pub fare. The grits were really creamy and the shrimp had caramelized onions and what I thought might be some sort of jus, but according to their menu it was sherry.

I also enjoyed the pork cheek taco from Iberian Pig, it was pretty obviously going to be good - slow roasted pork cheek in a warm fried corn tortilla shell.

The low (of the things I actually tried) was Sweet Auburn's Sweet Potato Cheesecake Fit For a President -- it was half an inch of cake with half an inch of sweet potato cheesecake on top which was an odd ratio. The cheesecake wasn't creamy enough, the cake was dry, and overall it didn't have much flavor. I had heard good things about this bakery, so that was disappointing.

Luckily, I still had enough tickets to get a scoop of Maple Bacon Brittle Ice Cream from Morelli's. The bacon wasn't very pronounced, but it was a very good maple premium ice cream.
